Message 7 of 31 Views. I got the email for free listings a day and of course it doesn't work. I got the email but it doesn't appear in the promotional section of my eBay. Has anyone got through to eBay and asked what the problem is? Message 8 of 31 Views. It disappeared several hours before the new email arrived so it probably doesn't start again until tomorrow, as happens with quite a few promotions. Let's hope that's the case.

I rang ebay and they said it was free listings to be used within 24hours of listing one today and will disappear without warning. I spoke to them about the wording and they said the promotions department made a mistake. Then you have to wait to hear from them, and that will screw up on-time shipping. If you mention it in the listing, then it becomes a part of the listing, and is not an actual freebie, and is subject to the same SNAD claims as anything else mentioned or shown. I have done this because I have to much stuff and am trying to downsize rather than leaving my daughter with the chore.
But I never list it in the description of the item for sale. I do mention here is your bonus item on the packing list. If your going to list it, list it as a bundle or lot is my thinking. If it is really a freebie gift, just include it. The freebie idea actually does result in repeat customers for me, but not necessarily or always.
But it does downsize my pile.
Do not laugh, but what item you get as a freebie depends on how well I guesstimated the ship charge. If including a bonus pushes it substantially into the next ship charge bracket.. On my most recent sale over on Etsy, I'm actually including a freebie.

It wasn't mentioned in the listing of course though. All it is is a coupon for a free Redbox DVD rental. The prize itself was simply 52 coupons with a one time code, each good for a free Redbox rental they obviously set up the prize guestimating that the winner would probably use one per week. Haven't had a chance or need to use them, so I figure that giving them out with select domestic orders will be a good way to finish them off before they expire in May. You might want to think about just doing it without advertising, without putting it in the listing. I've seen sellers do this before and it really makes me want to buy from them.

I will give you a little advice that has helped me. When I have over stock I'll offer a free gift with purchase and it'll boost your sales. Just watch the shipping since it increases obviously but if you offer free shipping you're paying for the shipping for the bonus too.
Yes don't give them choices though. You can tell them in your listing for a limited time enjoy a bonus item for your loyalty as a customer etc etc and just ship with the item without telling them exactly what they are getting for free. As a buyer I don't want your stuff you can't get rid of. I have to pay to throw away trash. I don't like freebies. I wouldn't neg for it but there are other buyers who do.
If it's a freebie, it had darned well better be a good one the buyer can use. Otherwise you are throwing in a burden instead of something good. Sorry, but no. It is far too easy for some buyers to find something to complain about. I've read too many unbelievable stories to think otherwise. I've seen sellers get bad feedback stating they were disappointed in their free item or didn't appreciate junk being sent to them they didn't want and had to dispose of. As someone else mentioned, others may see you gave out freebies and they didn't get one.

Another may open their package, find the freebie first, and think you sent the wrong thing and file a case. And definitely don't put it in the description with a choice, if you still decide to do this. I always include some speciality tea bags in with the purchase of a teacup.
